She made her movie debut when she was 14 in the 1944 British production Give Us the Moon (1944), and was nominated for Oscars for best supporting actress for Hamlet (1948) and as best actress for The Happy Ending (1969).

For a high school dropout with big ears who flunked his first MGM screen test, Clark Gable did pretty well for himself, becoming "The King of Hollywood" and starring in one of the most popular films ever made.

This redheaded actress of the 30s, 40s, and 50s made 48 films, but hasn't received the acclaim of some of her contemporaries. Celebrating her 86th birthday on January 26th.

Last week we spotlighted seven new releases, including several films starring Ronald Reagan, in honor of would have been his birthday: First, a 2-disc set of Brass Bancroft of the Secret Service films, plus Night Unto Night (1949), Stallion Road (1947), Home Before Dark (1958), Bodyguard (1948), Libel (1959), and Intruder in the Dust (1948), the last one remastered for DVD.
